I am a first generation Canadian of immigrant parents. My upbringing was bicultural and trilingual as my time was shared living in Sinaloa, Mexico and south western British Columbia, Canada. I deeply value the strength that family, culture and community connections can provide to foster resiliency and compassion. My family and friendships inspire me with much joy, love and compassion that support me in holding space for others to be their authentic selves.

Embracing the Journey: A new year full of opportunities and possibilities...
(August 18, 2024)
As I embark on my 25th year as an educator, I feel a deep sense of GRATITUDE as I look back, a sharp FOCUS on the present moment and so much HOPE for the journey ahead. My passions that contribute to my identity include being an educator, helper, healer, story teller, listener, dreamer and above all continuing to LEARN and GROW every day. A powerful realization I have had is that everything happens for a reason and that has given me a sense of purpose and resilience. This perspective has helped me navigate's life's ups and downs including my career journey. Every opportunity, every challenge, set back, and relationship has shaped me into the professional I am today. Whenever self-doubt shows up, I remind myself I am exactly where I need to be. The bumps along the way are opportunities for reflection and growth. The young learners I get to learn from also keep me inspired and focussed on what I need to put my energy into. I deeply value these courageous conversations.
As the start of the school new year is here, the aspiration I have for each learner is to be nurtured so that they can flourish in an ever changing global landscape. May the core competencies of our provincial curriculum provide students what they need in order to engage in deep, lifelong learning. May building student success be our shared commmon goal as it will make us better together to be in service collectively to improve life chances for all learners is the impact I know this year will bring. How I will stay focussed on this aspiration is to continue to strengthen the great work that we embarked on last year and to deepen our
shared framework for student and staff well-being. Being intentional and continuously including evidence from many voices will help us see our collective impact.
Best wishes for a great school year in 2024-25!
